Flora Britannica – Seeing the extraordinary in our everyday environment – Friday 11th to Sunday 13th May

This weekend – led by Bob Gilbert – is not just for plant or natural history enthusiasts but anyone who wants to have a deeper relationship with their environment.

The activities explore the theme of ‘experiencing our environment’. Based around the plants and animals, and the beautiful natural scenery, of Hilfield, it also aims to encourage the idea of ‘looking more deeply’ wherever we might be. Through a range of (short) walks around the various local habitats, and a range of other activities, we will explore our relationship with the natural world and the plants and animals that we share it with; looking at the names we have given them, the stories we have attached to them, the uses, medical and magical, that we have put them to. We will be using all our senses to help us appreciate in a number of different ways, the wonder that is, everywhere, all around us.

The suggested donation for the weekend is £130 which includes meals and accommodation. We are willing to accept less if this figure is not possible for you. Please contact Suzi who will be happy to help you with your booking in confidence.  We ask people to Gift Aid their donation wherever possible.

We do not make a charge for guests to stay with us but any donation towards our life and ministry is gratefully received. Our ministry includes our work with the poor and marginalised in our country, as well as promoting Franciscan values of justice, peace and integrity of creation. We estimate that it costs £40 to host a guest per day but all your contributions enable our work to go on. Thank you for all your support and encouragement in many ways, however much you are able to give it is important to us that you come and share in our community life.
