The aim of this weekend is to affirm the importance of Creation Care (Conservation) to our churches and provide some of the skills necessary to effect it. We will be sharing the joy and wonder of the beautiful wildlife here at the Friary, and exploring the ethos underpinning its care. We will also look at some of the practical skills necessary to help with conservation in your churches and at home. Join us whether you have loads of experience in conservation, or if you are looking for ways to get started! The weekend will be a mixture of stories, informative and practical sessions, and outdoor exploration; practical shoes a must! Arrivals from 3pm.
The Friary operates entirely on the generosity of guests, with only a suggested donation mentioned, if you are able to give more, you are helping the Friary to welcome guests who would not otherwise be able to afford it.
The suggested donation for the entire weekend course is £135 which includes the weekend sessions, meals and accommodation. The suggested donation for day attendance is £15, which includes the sessions and lunch. We are willing to accept less if this figure is not possible for you. Please contact Suzi who will be happy to help you with your booking in confidence. We ask people to Gift Aid their donation wherever possible.
If you can only come for the day, registration is essential. The Saturday sessions will run from 10-12 and from 2-4. The Sunday session will run from 10:15-12.
During this weekend you will be staying in Bernard, Leo or Juniper House, named after the early Companions of St Francis. Your accommodation is quiet and comfortable, warm and well-appointed.
Your meals will be taken either in Juniper House or the Refectory and participants are invited to help with both the preparation and washing up. It is sometimes possible to join the Community for Sunday lunch should numbers permit.
During the weekend you are welcome to share in the regular Services in the Community Chapel – although there is no requirement for you to do so.
